The 2017 Babysitting Clinic, sponsored by Black River Memorial Hospital (BRMH) and Partners of BRMH, is scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Black River Memorial Hospital.
The event is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lunch is provided and there is no cost to attend, but advanced registration is required by Friday, April 14, 2017. Class size is limited to 65 students.
The babysitting clinic is open to any student who is currently enrolled in the 6th grade or above. This one-day clinic teaches students to be responsible, creative and safety conscious while babysitting. Topics include guidelines for sitters, feeding and dressing a baby, fire safety and legal responsibilities. In addition, there will be sessions on first aid, responding to emergencies, rescue breathing and choking interventions.
Students will also attend a Q&A session with a panel of parents who will discuss experiences with babysitters. Students will be given a test, awarded a certificate of course completion and have a group picture taken.
