Janesville Police Chief David Moore says the peaceful end to a 10-day search for Joseph Jakubowski could have been much worse.
The 32-year-old fugitive didn't resist when he was arrested early Friday morning. He was found under a tarp at a campsite in a remote wooded area on the Vernon-Richland county line at about 6:00 a-m. He had weapons and ballistic armor with him when he was surrounded by 60-to-70 law enforcement officers. He made a Friday afternoon appearance in Madison federal court. He is to be formally arraigned April 25th and a grand jury will convene next Wednesday to determine if additional charges are called for.
