On May 17, Northern Jackson County received heavy rains which resulted several roadways flooding.

Jackson County has declared a State of Emergency due to the amount of flooded roadways in the County.

Jackson County Emergency Management is urging people not to travel through flooded areas if possible. If you must travel, make sure that you do not go around barricades or travel on roads that have water flowing over it. “You cannot see any damage that may be under the water”, stated Kristina Page, Jackson County Emergency Management Coordinator. "It is better to be safe than sorry”.

People are also being urged to stay away from flooded areas. “We have had some issues with curious people driving and walking near flood waters”, stated Page. “While we understand that people would like to survey the damage, the conditions could be very unsafe.”
