Assembly Proposes Changes To Foxconn Subsidy Package

(Madison, WI) -- The state would provide an extra 20-million dollars to train workers, as part of a large amendment to the state's Foxconn subsidy package.

Assembly leaders proposed some big changes Friday to a three-billion dollar incentive package that an Assembly committee will vote on Monday, and the full Assembly Thursday. Among other things, the bill a town next to a Foxconn plant could more easily incorporate as a village and fight off annexation attempts -- the county that gets the Foxconn plant could use their local sales tax revenue to pay off borrowing more extra amenities. And the state Finance Committee would have act to okay a proposed freeway expansion in the Foxconn bill totaling 252-million dollars.
