Subzero Temps Reported In The Season's Coldest Morning

It's the coldest morning of the season by far in Wisconsin. It was two below zero in Siren at six o'clock and one below in Merrill.

Much of the northern half of the state was in the single digits, but it did not feel any colder because winds were either light or non existent. Temps stayed in the teens in southern Wisconsin and along Lakes Michigan and Superior. A cold air mass brought in the freezing temperatures, and it's expected to head east later in the morning -- and today's (Friday's) highs will jump into the 20s and low 30s with some light snow. A slow warming trend is then predicted for the weekend, with the mercury rising into the 40s to near 50 by next Thursday with dry weather throughout.
