(Viroqua, WI) -- The Vernon County Sheriff's Office is still working on a cold case homicide after a woman's body was found near Westby 34 years ago last week.

At the time it was estimated she had been beaten to death, was 50-to-63 years old and her hands were cut off. Tests of the pollen found on her clothing tell investigators she was likely from an urban area in Arizona or New Mexico. The Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is working with the Vernon County Sheriff's Office. They're hoping to get help from the public in Wisconsin, Arizona or New Mexico.
