No Charges Against Officers Involved in Clark County Fatal Shooting

The Clark County District Attourney has determined that the officers involved in the Clark County Shooting in May were acting in self defense, and they will not be charged with criminal charges.

The May shooting was investigated by the Wisconsin Department of Jusitice. Multiple officers were in persuit of a vehicle driven by Kelly Abbott for a taillight that was not operating correctly. Three officers were on scene when Abbott's vehicle came to a rest by use of tire deflation strips. The officers were Officer Schar, Deputy Nicholas Klemm, and Sergeant Brian Rennie, all of the Clark County Sheriff's Office. When Abbott exited the vehicle he presented a firearm, and took a shot towards Officer Schar. Officer Schar and Deputy Klemm returned fire, and Abbott died of multiple gunshot wounds.
