A judge has set bail at five-million dollars for the man accused of kidnapping 13-year-old Jayme Closs and murdering her parents.
Twenty-one-year-old Jake Patterson appeared in court through video feed from the county jail, speaking only to acknowledge that his name and address were correct on the paperwork. He also agreed to waive a speedy preliminary hearing. Patterson has no known previous criminal history. Police say Jake Patterson isn't denying that he took Jayme Closs and killed her parents. In fact, investigators in Barron County say Patterson admitted to kidnapping her and shooting her parents back in October. As for why he did it, investigators say Patterson said he saw Jayme Closs get off the school bus and knew that was the girl he was going to take.
