The Wisconsin National Guard has decided an Illinois congressman doesn't deserve military punishment for remarks he made last week.
Congressman Adam Kinzinger is a member of the Guard. He blasted Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers for his decision to withdraw this state's troops from the border with Mexico. Evers controls the guard and state law prohibits commissioned officers from criticizing their superiors publicly. The Guard's legal team determined Kinzinger was speaking as a congressman and not a military officer.
