Great Lakes Advocacy Group Wants Water Quality Funding Tripled

Great Lakes advocacy groups are in Washington this week lobbying Congress for more money.

The coalition of organizations in the Great Lakes region is asking for eight-point-six-billion dollars in federal funding.  The group of 100 representatives is also asking for 300-million dollars for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative.  The money would go for water quality issues like toxic pollution cleanups and the battle against invasive species.  The eight-point-six billion dollar figure is three times the current funding level.
