An Eau Claire man is going to prison for eight years after pleading guilty to seven of the 19 charges he faced.

Emmitt Ritter-Simpson was accused of shooting police officers with a B-B gun when they arrested him in January. Ritter-Simpson allegedly fired 50-to-75 shots from a pellet gun, hitting three officers during a standoff. Investigators say he booby-trapped the home with explosives and, after he was arrested and tossed in jail, he tried to kill a county corrections officer.
