Iowa County DA Dies Suddenly In His Office

The Iowa County district attorney died suddenly Tuesday of a blood clot in his lung.

Larry Nelson was at his desk in the office at the time. He had served as an assistant district attorney and corporation counsel of Iowa County for 17 years. Nelson was appointed D-A by former Governor Jim Doyle in 2006. He was known for supporting innovative approaches to dealing with criminal activity, such as the county's Drug Treatment Court and an O-W-I Intensive Supervision Program. Nelson was 59 years old.
