Parents Would Pay A Fine For Their Kids' Bullying Under A New Ordinance

If Wisconsin Rapids passes a new ordinance, the parents of a bully could be fined.

City leaders are considering taking the step after a viral social media post showed several children urging a seventh-grade student to kill herself. The ordinance would hold parents or guardians responsible if the bully is less than 18 years old. Counting court costs, the first offense would cost 313-dollars, based on a 50-dollar fine. The anti-bullying ordinance will be considered at a June 18th Common Council meeting.
