A Monday ceremony at the Wisconsin Capitol celebrated the 100th anniversary of the state's ratification of the 19th Amendment. Wisconsin was the first state to vote to give women the right to vote.

It took more than a year to get the 36 states needed to ratify it, opening the doors at polling places to women voters. First lady Kathy Evers led the efforts to mark the anniversary and former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch heads the national commission doing the same thing.
