Governor Evers Declares September Suicide Awareness Prevention Month

Governor Evers is declaring September as "Suicide Prevention Month" in Wisconsin.

September 10th is "Suicide Prevention Day." State officials say 886 Wisconsinites lost their lives to suicide in 2018. Governor Evers said,"we have to get serious about de-stigmatizing mental health and suicide and start investing in much-needed mental health resources, especially for our kids at school and our farmers who are facing unprecedented economic challenges.” Lawmakers approved 200-thousand dollars this week for a program aimed at supporting Wisconsin farmers’ mental health. People in need of help are urged to call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
