Farm Building Structural Failures meeting to be held in Gilmanton, WI

– Division of Extension Buffalo County will be holding a meeting to discuss Farm Building
Structural Failures from snow, wind and unbalanced loads.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday,
September 24, 2019 from 9:30 am until 11:30 am at the Gilmanton American Legion, W736 County Road
B, Gilmanton, Wisconsin. The featured speaker will be Aaron Halberg, Professional Licensed Engineer
and Post Frame Engineering Specialist - Halberg Engineering, LLC. Hayward, WI.
Aaron will discuss snow, wind and unbalanced load issues in post-frame construction and how they led
to numerous building failures that have happened since 2010 with emphasis on issues experienced in
2019. He will also discuss what you might consider when preparing for the 2020 winter season.
Following a short presentation, we will facilitate a discussion with attendees.
Other topics to be covered include considerations on farm building insurance to be sure buildings and
contents are covered. Also, a farm building survey, which will be launched in October, will be
presented.
