Wausau Doctor Sentenced To Federal Prison For Prescribing Unneeded Fentanyl

A 60-year-old Wausau doctor has been given a three-month federal prison sentence for fraud.

Federal prosecutors had accused Thomas Strick of prescribing fentanyl patches to at least a half-dozen patients who didn’t need to drugs. He had the individuals fill the prescriptions, then return the patches to him – so he could use them. Investigators say he obtained more than three-thousand fentanyl patches over a seven-year period. He was found guilty of the same kind of activity 15 years ago.
