A 49-year-old defendant will undergo a mental evaluation after pleading not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect in Chippewa County.

Christopher Knyphausen was shot by responding deputies when he called 9-1-1 from a motel saying he knew authorities were looking for him and he had a gun. Knyphausen is accused of two felony charges – threatening a judge and making terroristic threats. He was shot by an Eau Claire County deputy last August. The mental exam and status report haven’t been scheduled yet.
