Monroe County recorded its first confirmed case of COVID-19 Tuesday.
According to Health Department Director Sharon Nelson, the individual is a male in his 50s with no known exposure via travel or contact with a confirmed case. The gentleman is isolating at home. Monroe County Health Department officials continue to investigate the case which includes identifying and following up with any contacts the individual may have had. Nelson says the public can remain calm as they have been preparing for a case of COVID-19. She reminds everyone to stay home and practice good hygiene...wash your hands, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and avoid touching your face.
