(2/11/13) A weather-related traffic crash in west central Wisconsin sent 13 people to area hospitals.
It happened yesterday afternoon west of Neillsville on a slushy Highway 10. No one died as of mid-day. Clark County chief deputy Jim Backus said some of the victims were in critical condition, but he could not say how many. Three victims had to be extricated from their vehicles. Others were treated at hospitals and later released. An early investigation showed that an eastbound vehicle lost control – sideswiped an oncoming vehicle – and then struck another oncoming vehicle nearly head-on. Seven people in the first vehicle were transported, along with one in the second vehicle, and five in the third. They were taken to hospitals in Marshfield, Black River Falls, and Osseo. The crash happened about 3:30 yesterday afternoon, and the highway was closed for about four-and-a-half hours.
