Wisconsin Statewide Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week Approaching

The second week of April is Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week. On average, Wisconsin will have 24 tornadoes each year. On Thursday April 12th, there will be two Statewide Tornado Drills. The drills will take place at 1:45 pm and 6:55 pm on the 12th. The purpose of the two drills this year is to allow people to practice their emergency plan both at home and at their place of business or school. Jackson County Emergency Management will also be testing their outdoor weather sirens and the mass notification system along with the mock tornado warning. Starting on April 2nd, sirens in Jackson County will be tested every Monday at noon. If you'd like to sign up for the emergency notification system Nixle, you can register by texting your zip code to 888777 or by going to the registration page online at https://local.nixle.com/jackson-county-wi-emergency-management/
