Rita Sue Lindberg, age 60, passed away on November 4, 2018 at Grand View Care Center in Blair, Wisconsin after a brief but brave battle with cancer.
Rita was born the “middle child” of Hilman (Jake) and Priscilla (Pep Gilbertson) Lindberg on November 2, 1958 in Black River Falls. She was raised in Hixton and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1976.
Rita married and later divorced Anthony (Tony) Laufenberg and was the proud Mom of their two daughters, Emily and Andrea. One of her greatest satisfactions in life was earning her Associate’s Degree in Interior Design from Western Technical College in 1996. In addition to her years working in this field she found joy in playing Scrabble and many outdoor activities including gardening, kayaking, and walking.
Rita is survived by her daughters: Emily (Rich) Rogge of La Crosse; Andrea (Heath) Hale of Holmen and her grandchildren: Adam and Ashlyn Rogge, Owen Subjek, Dylan and Bryce Hale as well as her siblings: Rose (Jeff) Pugh of Eau Claire, Randy (Sue) Lindberg of Hixton, Ruth (Jeff) DeJarlais of Merrill and a sister-in-law, Brenda Lindberg of Hixton. She is further survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pep and Jake Lindberg, and ‘baby brother’, Rick, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Per Rita’s wishes there will be no formal services. Family is planning a private gathering to reminisce, grieve, support each other and celebrate her life and love. Rita’s family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Grand View Care Center and Black River Memorial Hospital Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care in her final days.
