Thomas "Turkey Tom" E. Hruza

(6-21-12)   Thomas "Turkey Tom" E. Hruza, 75, of Melrose died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI.  He was born September 19, 1936 to Joseph & Phoebe (Dvorak) Hruza in Lanesboro, MN.  On September 15, 1956 he married Carol Risdal; they later divorced.  Thomas was a turkey farmer for many years.  He later ran Turkey Toms Tavern in Melrose, WI.  He loved to garden, play cards and watch his grandchildren participate in sports.  He also loved watching the Vikings, Gophers and the Twins.  He really loved spending time with his family.  He was a member of the Melrose Business Association, Rotary member, Melrose Rod & Gun Club, The American Legion Neil S. Lewison Post 439, a charter member of the Quad County Turkey Federation and St, Kevin's Catholic Church.  Tom is survived by 2 sons, Donald (Jan) Hruza and Steven (Deana) Hruza both of Melrose, WI; 3 daughters, Constance (Steve) Sprinkel of Rice Lake, WI, Katherine (James) Jessessky of Holmen, WI and Jeane (John) Frank of Melrose, WI; 12 grandchildren; Stacy (Troy), Steven, Jessica, Matt, Christine, Jamie, Jarod, Haley, Matt, Corey, Janelle, Matthew and Nathan; 5 great grandchildren, Kyle, Makenna, Ava, Isabelle and Savannah; 3 brothers; George (Marlene) Hruza of St. Paul, MN, Joe Hruza and Bob (Sharon) Hruza both of Northfield, MN.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, June 25, 2012 at St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Melrose, WI. Fr Emanuel Famiych will officiate.  Burial with full military rites will follow in Irving Cemetery.  Friends may call from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Zwickey Funeral Homes Melrose Chapel and from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Church on Monday.  In Leau of flowers, memorials preferred to Melrose Youth Baseball and Melrose-Mindoro Youth basketball.  Zwickey Funeral Homes Melrose Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
