Brewers: Counsell Expects Braun To Stay

Milwaukee Brewers' manager Craig Counsell expects Ryan Braun to be back next season, and he's still penciled in at left field.

Counsell says he has heard nothing at this week's Major League Winter Meetings that might indicate he'll be traded. The 2011 National League M-V-P came off back surgery last season to have one of his best years at the plate with 30 homers, 91 R-B-Is, and a .905 O-P-S. The Brewers almost dealt the 33-year-old Braun to the Los Angeles Dodgers in August -- but he apparently remains tough to trade with his injury history, his big contract which has four years and 76-million dollars left, and the aftermath of his P-E-D drug suspension from 2013. Meanwhile, the Rule Five Draft takes place today (Thursday) -- and Milwaukee has one open roster spot should they want to choose a player.
