Brewers Win, Take Three Of Four At Saint Louis

Eric Thames hits a two run homer in the ninth inning to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 6-4 victory at Saint Louis Thursday night.

Cardinals' closer Seung Hwan Oh gave up a single to pinch hitter Jesus Aguilar two batters before Thames hit a shot that barely scaled the right field wall -- and the loss dropped Oh to 1-3 while Carlos Torres got the win to improve to 3-4, and Oliver Drake struck out two in the ninth to get the first save of his career. Keon Broxton hit the longest homer in the eleven year history of the current Busch Stadium, a 489 foot blast -- and Dexter Fowler also went yard for the Redbirds, who are now five games below .500 in third place in the National League Central. The Brewers took three of four from Saint Louis, beating the Cardinals for their second straight series. And with the second place Chicago Cubs idle, Milwaukee extended its lead in the Central to two and one half games as the Crew hosts San Diego tonight (Friday).
