The Tiger Hockey team was shot out in consecutive contests this past week.

On Tuesday, Feb 5, the Tigers traveled to Eau Claire for the second match up of the season. The game was not as close as the 0-1 loss early in the season. After a scoreless first period due primarily to great goal tending by Josie Mathison, the Stars found momentum 5 minutes into in the second period tallying three goals in a minute and a half span and never looked back. The Stars tallied all 6 of their goals in the period and road out the 6-0 win.  The Stars are very fast and played at a pace we struggled to match. They are the #1 seed in their section for the upcoming playoffs and it is well deserved.

Four days later, the Tigers made the long trek to Hayward for the second match up with the Hurricanes. The Tigers fought the Hurricanes to a scoreless tie early in the year in a game in which Mathison made 51 saves. This time around, the Hurricanes were able to put up a couple goals in each of the three periods to hand the Tigers their second straight 0-6 defeat in a row. Hayward plays a hard and fast game and with the exception of early in the game when the Tiger’s seemed to keep pace, the Hurricanes were able to maintain their momentum.

The Tigers record to date stands at 6-13-3. The last regular season game is scheduled for Monday night, Feb 12, when the Tigers will host Baraboo.  The Tiger’s will host their first round playoff game Thursday, Feb 14, 7PM vs Northland Pines.
