Late Start For Wisconsin Deer Season Results In 25% Reduction In Harvest

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says the late start for this year’s gun deer season means hunters missed the rut and deer weren’t moving around.

That resulted in a 25-percent reduction in the number of deer killed – just over 160-thousand this year, compared to 214-thousand in 2018. The D-N-R says overall interest was down, a situation shown by a dropoff of 13-thousand licenses sold. The nine-day gun season ended Sunday.
