The N-C-A-A can’t handle the financial losses if another season-ending basketball tournament is called off.
Right now, the organization is negotiating with Indianapolis on a plan to hold all of March Madness there. Its insurance policy reportedly paid out 270-million dollars when last year’s tournament was called off. But, the N-C-A-A needs the 850-million it earns from March Madness. The college athletics organization has an annual budget of some one-point-one billion dollars. A COVID-19 vaccine would help things. So would slowing down the rapid growth of new cases of the virus.
