A group of activists and city leaders have held a “Protect the Future” rally in La Crosse. Citizen Action of Wisconsin is urging the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the School District of La Crosse to pledge to take action to combat climate change. The rally was held Saturday at La Crosse City Hall. Citizen Action spokesman Wyatt Molling tells W-K-B-T / T-V the local drinking water is contaminated with PFAS and the water in Lake Neshonoc has three times the average fecal count of any other waterway in the county. Petition signatures were gathered asking the university and school district to commit to using 100-percent renewable energy by 2050.
