Anna Mae “Marie” Conrad, 85, of Arcadia, died peacefully under the care of St. Croix Hospice
on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Grandview Care Center in Blair.
Marie was born on February 8, 1939, to Paul and Euphrosine (Giemza) Sobieck. Raised in rural
Independence, Marie attended S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic School and graduated from
Independence High School. She was united in marriage to Eldon Conrad at S.S. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church on October 8, 1960. Eldie and Marie moved to Arcadia and together raised 6
children, all who grew up knowing the values of hard work, helping their neighbors, and serving
their community. Marie devoted her life to her faith and family, and always made sure there was
plenty to go around. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and the PCCW. Marie’s life-long
passion was cooking and baking, skills that she shared with her family as well as her community
when she worked as a waitress and cook at various restaurants and establishments. Marie
loved it when people came to her home and enjoyed the food she prepared and visits over
coffee. If anyone ever left Marie’s house hungry, it was their own fault, as she usually ensured
her guests would not only leave fed, but their arms would be full of leftovers and baked goods.
Marie is survived by her children: Renee (James) Campbell of Shawano, Renette (April)
Wardlow of Springfield, MO, Richard of Arcadia, Rollie (Dana) Conrad of Arcadia, Randy “Fritz”
(Traci Risberg) of Independence, and Becky (Matthew) Koby of Holmen; grandchildren: Kyle
(Brea) Campbell, Katie (Matt) Frank, Michael (Hannah) Wardlow, Andrew (Tiffany) Wardlow,
Braden (Nikki) Conrad, Lauren Conrad, Malaina (Cameron) Krueger, Alonna Conrad, Broden
Conrad, Jacob Kaczmarek and Jayse Koby; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and
one on the way; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Bonnie Leuthen; and numerous
nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2010; son, Eldon, Jr. in infancy;
grandson: Logan Conrad; brothers: Ray, Everett, Ralph, Paul Jr., Adrian, Duane and Robert
Sobieck; sisters: Roberta in infancy, Esther Bisek, Elizabeth “Betty” Dascher, and Ruth

the Archangel Catholic Church in North Creek with Father Kyle Laylan officiating. Burial will be
