Students at Melrose-Mindoro High School can now earn a sports letter in auto racing. The school board became the first in the state to make auto racing a letterable sport. The races will be apart of the High School Racing Association, a division of the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway in West Salem. According to a press release from the HSRA, competing students must be in good academic standing, show good sportsmanship, and compete in a minimum of four HSRA events at an HSRA sanctioned race track to earn a letter from their school. The tentative schedule for the HSRA includes a total of 20 events at four different tracks throughout Wisconsin, the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway, Dells Raceway Park in Lyndon, Madison International Speedway in Oregon, and the Tomah-Sparta Speedway in Tomah.
