Bernice Stellar, 95, of Independence, died Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Gundersen Tri-County Care Center, Whitehall.
Bernice was born August 25, 1925 in Arcadia, Wis., to George and Verna (Skriepeitz) Waletski. She married Adolph Stellar November 11, 1946 in Arcadia. He died April 30, 2007.
The couple farmed for many years before moving to Independence. Bernice worked at Gopher Glove. She was a cook at Club Midway for 17 years and also cooked at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School. She took pride in her craftwork, needlepoint and crocheting. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Bernice is survived by four children, Charlotte (Joe) Bisek of Independence, Ron (Peggy) Stellar of Chippewa Falls, Pat (Jerry) Knudson of Independence and Joyce (Raymond Berke) Schneider of Oakdale, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brother, Clarence Skriepeitz; sister, Margaret Hanson; grandsons, Jerry Bisek and Keith Stellar.
Mass of Christian Burial (with COVID-19 guidelines) will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Independence, with burial the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to Mass at the church.
