The Black River Falls Commercial Historic District is now registered in both the National & State Register of Historic Places. The Historic District in BRF is bound by Harrison, North Water, Fillmore, and North 3rd Streets. Being registered in the National & State Register of Historic Places allows limited protection from encroachment of federal and state funded projects or state facility development projects; as well as eligibility to apply for matching grants for research, restoration, acquisition, or stabilization. Certain tax incentives are also available to the area. In an email, City Administrator Brad Chown said, “Thank you to everyone that was involved in the process – your time and efforts have paid off.”
