There was more discussion on allowing ATV/UTV’s to operate on city streets in Black River Falls during Tuesday’s (6/1) Common Council Meeting. Members of the Black River Falls Common Council were given copies of ordinances from other area cities that do allow ATV/UTV use on city streets. Several items were discussed on the specifics including a time frame of 8 am – 9 pm or 8 am – 8 pm; requiring operators to have a valid driver’s license; keeping the ordinance as simple as possible; and restrictions on certain streets. City Administrator Brad Chown said that a member of the Wisconsin Department Of Transportation recommended opening all city streets with language such as “except where posted”, which would allow the council to limit access if they saw fit. A first draft of the ordinance will be drafted by the City Attorney, and presented to the Common Council.
