BRFCC: Brown Wins Re-Election Resigns for Chief of Police Post

The Black River Falls Common Council met Wednesday night. According to City Administrator Brad Chown, the council reviewed the results of the 2024 Spring Election, which included incumbent Ward 2 Alderperson Travis Brown winning re-election, though Brown declined the position. Soon after, Brown was sworn in as City of Black River Falls’ Chief of Police and Criminal Investigator. The new Chief is a native of Black River Falls. He served three years in the Army. Since then, Chief Brown has worked for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Village of Taylor, and the Town of Brockway. Chief Brown replaces Jeremy Isensee who resigned earlier this year.

In other Black River Falls Common Council news, Jackson County Sheriff Duane Waldera told members the updated county jail and justice center project is considering consuming North Third Street. Waldera said a possible sub-committee, which would include City Administrator Chown, would work through the planning stages. The council also considered a first reading of ordinance 886, which would establish a 35 mph speed limit on a portion of West Bauer Road.
