Brownie’s Bark in the Park and Statue Unveiling at Wisconsin Veterans Home at King

This Friday, May 2nd, the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King will host “Brownie’s Bark in the Park” — a special event honoring Brownie, a heroic WWII war dog turned beloved companion at the Veterans Home.

The celebration runs from 3 to 6 p.m., with the statue unveiling ceremony beginning at 4. Author Kelly Nelson, who wrote Brownie the War Dog and spearheaded the fundraising effort for the statue, will speak alongside WDVA Secretary James Bond and other local leaders.

The event will include a puppy parade, dog costume contest, games, and family-friendly activities — and yes, you’re encouraged to bring your pup!

Brownie served bravely in WWII and found a second calling as a support companion to veterans at King. His story continues to inspire, and this event celebrates his legacy — in true dog-loving fashion.
