Car vs Train Fatal Crash – Update

On May 21, 2024, at about 5:22 PM, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a
report of a train versus passenger car crash in the Township of Alma.
On scene, it was determined the vehicle had failed to yield to an oncoming train before
being struck. The driver was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver was identified as Roman Fronk, age 18, of Black River Falls.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Melrose, Merrillan, Alma
Center, and Black River Falls Fire and EMS.
The case is still under investigation.
