Carole Rose Byrns, age 83, died Saturday October 9, 2021 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse WI.
Carole was born April 18, 1938 in Hixton WI to Anthony “Anton” and Mildred (Held) Ripp. She was a high school graduate who later married the love of her life Michael Byrns. Together they raised five wonderful boys including a set of twins. As an adult Carole went back to high school this time to work for years in the cafeteria as a cook. She also loved not only cooking but also working at the high school as a mentor and counselor for many young ladies.
Having had five boys in four years, Carole was always busy. Her family and faith meant everything to her and she passed her love of God as well as her work ethic to her sons. Her house was meticulously clean and when she would work in later years at the food pantry, younger generations would comment when they appeared to tire, that they couldn’t stop doing what they were doing yet, because Carole wasn’t showing signs of slowing down. For Carole, working was fun, no idle hands ever, whether at work or in her flower gardens. Carole was very optimistic, always looking at the positive side of things, and always with a smile for everyone.
Carole was very organized, even down to her bookshelves and she loved to read. She also loved to paint and decorate her house and was always on to her next project. She was committed to keeping healthy and would walk endlessly to stay in shape, which was a good thing considering she loved to cook, both at school but especially at home for her boys, the grandchildren and the great-grandkids. She was well known and well loved for her lasagna, her bean soup and her Christmas Cookies. Her gentle nature, love and tenderness will be forever missed. May God bless our memories of Carole Byrns.
Surviving Carole are her sons Mark (Mary), Jeff, James, John and Peter; her grandchildren Jennifer (Jake) Aleckson, Ray (Dawn) Byrns, Michael Byrns and Nathan Byrns; her great grandchildren Kayla and Landon Aleckson; her brother Howard (Mary) Ripp; her sisters-in-law Carole Ripp, Jean Ripp and Sylvia Ripp as well as nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Mark Byrns; her parents Anton and Mildred; and by her siblings Gerald Ripp, Donald Ripp, Walter (Jeanette) Ripp and Annabelle (Dave) Wilhelm.
