Public health officials are worried about “forever chemicals” in the drinking water for people living on French Island at La Crosse. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the state Department of Health Services have issued an interim drinking water advisory for those residents. Chemicals called PFAS offer potential health risks and a virtual information session on the matter was held Thursday night. The D-N-R says people who aren’t currently getting bottled water from the City of La Crosse are eligible to get it from that state agencies. Five-gallon containers will be delivered to those who apply.
