Eric Arne Windjue, age 70, of Whitehall, WI passed away at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.
Eric was born on November 30, 1951 in Whitehall to Alvin and Jeannette (Johnson) Windjue. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Whitehall. Eric graduated from the Whitehall High School with the Class of 1970 and attended Western Wisconsin Technical College in LaCrosse.
Eric retired in 2019 after 20 years at Whitehall-Specialties, Ltd., in Whitehall. Eric was a member of the Whitehall Volunteer Fire Department for many years and enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing and was a big fan of both the Packers and Brewers. He especially enjoyed fishing trips and time spent with his friends in northern Minnesota at Brickner’s cabin.Eric was a good cook, collected hundreds of recipe books and often cooked at the Whitehall-Pigeon Rod & Gun Club fishing contests as well as for Beef & Dairy Days and other events.
Eric is survived by his brothers, John (Linda) Windjue, Paul (Jeanine) Windjue, Jim Windjue, Robert (Theresa) Windjue and Tom (Charlotte) Windjue; his sisters, Ellen (Russell) Koxlien, Jane (Randy) Olson, Martha (Steve) Fremstad and Sarah (Layne) Anderson. Eric was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Jane Windjue and a brother, Mark Windjue.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Cemetery in Whitehall with Pastor Peter Jonas officiating.
Due to current COVID-19 restrictions a celebration of Eric’s life will be held at a later date.
The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
