A Fairchild man was arrested Monday evening after trying to flee an officer who attempted to make a traffic stop. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reports on Monday night just before 9:30 an officer attempted a traffic stop on County Highway A in the Town of Hixton. The driver of the vehicle, 53-year-old Robert Wilkinson of Fairchild, attempted to flee the officer, exceeding speeds of 100 mph. Wilkinson’s vehicle eventually became disabled in a ditch, where he was apprehended. Wilkinson was booked into the Jackson County Jail on charges of felony fleeing an officer, felony possession of an electronic weapon, felony possession of methamphetamine, some misdemeanor offenses, and a probation hold. He was also cited multiple traffic offenses.
