FEMA is awarding more than 17 million dollars in grant funding to six Midwestern states, including Wisconsin, to help communities prepare for and reduce the impact of future disasters.
The funding includes nearly 15 million dollars for disaster-mitigation projects in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, with many projects focused on reducing flood risks and improving infrastructure.
Another 1-point-9 million dollars will support floodplain management programs, helping local communities reduce flood risks.
Illinois and Indiana will also receive 123-thousand dollars through FEMA’s earthquake preparedness program for training, exercises and other activities.
The funding was announced September 19th and is part of FEMA’s disaster-preparedness and mitigation efforts across the Midwest.
