October is Manufacturing Month, and Wisconsin Officials recognized that by participating in a certification ceremony for the first group of people that completed the Computer Numerical Control program at Jackson Correctional Institution. CNC is a computerized manufacturing process that takes data to control and monitor machines and robots that produce machined parts. Western Technical College creates the curriculum for the training. A new correctional job lab will be opening at JCI later this fall that will provide people in the Department of Corrections’ care the ability to search for jobs throughout Wisconsin in the advanced manufacturing field before returning to their homes and communities. A second group is currently learning at the CNC lab at JCI.
