Fort McCoy prescribed burn April 10

FORT McCOY, WI – Fort McCoy continues performing prescribed burn operations where local conditions provide a safe and effective burn.

Today’s prescribed burn will be on South Post.

Fort McCoy will continue to carefully assess the most appropriate days to conduct prescribed burns. These operations increase Fort McCoy’s wildfire resilience, improve wildlife habitat, control invasive species, improve safety in training areas, and restore native plant communities.

Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin. Fort McCoy’s motto is to be the “Total Force Training Center.”

The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services nearly every year since 1984.
