A four-hour fog delay was just about the only thing that could slow down Wisconsin’s Nick Trim at the 2025 Mercury B.A.S.S. Nation Championship on the Upper Mississippi River. The Galesville native still hauled in a five-bass limit weighing sixteen pounds, nine ounces on Friday — giving him a three-day total of fifty-six nine. That keeps Trim in the driver’s seat heading into Championship Saturday, where he’ll fish for the Bryan V. Kerchal Memorial Trophy, a $50,000 prize, and an invitation to the 2026 Bassmaster Elite Series. Trim says losing half the day to fog made Friday stressful — but he still managed to catch big smallmouths and largemouths on his home waters. Tennessee’s Dylan Nutt and Connecticut’s Noah Winslow round out the top three, while Iowa’s Chris Miller landed the biggest bass so far — a seven pound, fifteen ounce smallmouth. Final weigh-in is set for three-thirty this afternoon in La Crosse.
