George L. Broadhead

George L. Broadhead, 81, of Tomah, died Saturday, February 10, 2024, at his home. He was born
February 7, 1943, at home to Joseph and Bessie Mae (Hayter) Broadhead. George was the 9th child
of 10. At the age of 17 he joined the United States Air Force. Following his service time, he moved to
Janesville and worked at the GM Auto Plant. He was united in marriage to LuAnne Herold on
February 26, 1983, at the United Methodist Church in Sparta. They moved to Tomah where George
worked as a director for Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Warrens, until his retirement in 2005.
George was an active member in the Tomah Lions Club and volunteered at the Tomah Department
of Veterans Affairs for the “Golf Shack.” He loved to golf, and he enjoyed Monday golfing with the
Silver Saints. He also was an avid bowler and bowled in the Tuesday, Thursday men’s leagues and
Friday night couples league. He received rings for 300 and 800 series games. George enjoyed
playing pool and was a member of the pool league as well as horseshoe league. He was a devoted
Green Bay Packer Fan. George had a good sense of humor. He could talk to anyone and make them
feel comfortable. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. George is survived by his
wife of 41 years, LuAnne, a daughter Jodi (Michael) Beckington of Beloit, a stepdaughter Wendy
(Larry) Pertzsch of LaCrosse, a sister Helen (Donnie) Parr of Viroqua, and a brother James (Liz)
Broadhead of Westby, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. A Memorial Service will be held on
Friday, February 16, 2024, 3:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St.
Tomah. Burial will be at a later date and the Grassman-Larsen-Sowle-Senz American Legion Post 201 will provide Military Honors. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Online condolences may be sent to
