The Wisconsin Legislature gaveled out of a special session yesterday afternoon (Tuesday), thereby losing out on a potential $1.6 billion in cost savings from the American Rescue Plan Act and an expansion in BadgerCare. Governor Tony Evers ordered the special legislative session to discuss both proposals. If accepted, the proposals would have grown BadgerCare and allowed for substantial investment in COVID-19 recovery projects across the state. Republican leaders have not yet released a statement on the decision.
