Governor Tony Evers has called a special session of the Legislature for Tuesday at noon to fix and modernize the state’s unemployment system. Evers described the current system as broken in his State of the State Address last night. In just the past 10 months, DWD reports that they have handled 8.8 million claims, and many people had to wait weeks or even months before receiving their benefits. Evers also announced his plan for modernizing the system, which would cost $90 million over the course of 10 years
