Governor Tony Evers has made his pick for District Attorney in Jackson County. Evers announced Thursday that the open position would be filled by Emily Hynek. Hynek has been the assistant district attorney in Jackson County since 2018, and was previously an assistant DA in La Crosse County for six years. The position became available when Dan Diehn resigned, as he was elected judge for Jackson County’s 2nd circuit court. Hynek will serve the remainder of Diehn’s unexpired term that lasts until January of 2025.
