Influenza Season Begins at Tomah Health

Influenza season has begun at Tomah Health. According to Hospital Infection Preventionist Jena Cornell, Tomah Health has recorded its first reportable case of Influenza Type A.

Cornell said most people who have influenza are infected with the influenza Type A virus which includes fever and chills, headache, and muscle aches, feeling tired and weak, sneezing, and stuffy or runny nose, sore throat and cough.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone six months and older get vaccinated against flu each year.

Officials say the flu season typically peaks in December through February.
